German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
Since it was founded, VDI/VDE-IT has been in charge of a broad range of tasks on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This includes project management for innovation policy funding programmes, the organisation and implementation of measures in support of innovation, accompanying research as well as scientific and organisational advice in conceptual questions.
German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology
VDI/VDE-IT has been organising measures of economic and technological policy on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. This includes project management for programmes to support small and medium-sized enterprises, the management of offices, the organisation of competitions as well as accompanying research and the evaluation of economic and technological programmes. The focus is on the support of innovative SMEs and start-ups.
German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety
VDI/VDE-IT, acting on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety, is concerned with the question of how to generate and use energy sustainably in future. Currently the focus is on electromobility. In this area, VDI/VDE-IT assists in the elaboration and implementation of the National Development Plan on Electromobility and organises project management under the Electromobility funding programme.
Bavarian State Ministry of Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology
The Bavarian State Ministry of Economics, Infrastructure, Traffic and Technology (StMWIVT) is funding the development of new technologies, including Microsystems Technology (MST) and Information and Communication Technology (I+C), under R&D programmes for a sustainable support of Bavarian companies and research institutions. VDI/VDE-IT has been put in charge of project management for both funding programmes.
Saxon State Ministry for Economy, Technology, Transportation
The Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labour and Traffic is putting the focus on innovations as crucial drivers of growth and the long-term competitiveness of the Saxon economy. The political aim is to continue promoting and advancing innovations intensively. VDI/VDE-IT organises the Industrial Network Renewable Energies of Saxony EESA on behalf of the Ministry.
European Commission
VDI/VDE-IT participates in numerous projects, oriented to technological policy, which are financed by the European Commission, the focus being on the management of networks and European technology platforms. In doing so, VDI/VDE-IT sees itself as a pacemaker for new developments in the field of European research and innovation policy by systematically detecting and tracking new trends, as well as establishing and developing new forms of European cooperation and initiating measures in support of innovations and research.

The economic region of Baden-Württemberg belongs to Germany’s most dynamic and innovative regions. The Economics Ministry supports regional development through systematic measures of support and funding.
