Human-Technology Interaction

The interaction between man and technology is changing. Man is increasingly living and working in a mobile and networked environment and surrounds himself/herself with multifunctional, miniaturised, networked and context-sensitive devices. Man and technology are coming ever closer together. Information and microsystems technologies are providing inconspicuous, portable and even implantable intelligent systems. Technical systems are being given more scope for action and intelligent impact in their interaction. These changes need a new understanding of the way we deal with technology, in connection with new technologies, products, cultural techniques, and rules for the interaction between man and technology.

On the basis of established key technologies, the future field of human-technology interaction, as defined by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as a priority for funding, promotes the development of new need-oriented solutions which take into account human thinking, feeling, communicating and behaving.

Examples of such developments:

  • Human-technology teams in the working environment
  • Personalised interaction with the Internet of Things
  • Mobile diagnostic systems

Our current activities in this field include support for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
