Expertise

From research to society

From cybersecurity to quantum cryptography, from digitisation in healthcare to the preservation of biodiversity: with an exceptionally broad technical scope and highly relevant topics, welcome to the field of Communication Systems, Human-Machine Interaction, Health.

Shaping social change

We identify topics and trends that arise from social change and use them to derive measures for our customers. In this way, we help to realise technical and social innovations that will in turn bring about profound change in our society. This affects all areas of life – whether industry, healthcare, or the private sphere. We continuously evaluate our activities, prepare analyses and studies, develop concepts, and provide valuable impetus for the further development of research and innovation

Our service commitment

To promote these future-oriented topics, we provide expert advice to clients at the state, federal, and European levels on the conception and design of research programs. As a project management agency, we perform a wide range of other tasks: We not only provide support in selecting projects for funding, preparing and implementing approvals, and disbursing and auditing funding. We also accompany the research projects throughout their entire duration and carry out all the necessary audits in accordance with funding regulations. In addition, we provide support in science communication, organise events, and connect relevant stakeholders.

Interdisciplinary team

In order to continuously expand our range of services in innovation and research funding with modern expertise, our team combines numerous disciplines such as computer science, medicine, psychology, nursing, natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, economics, and administrative sciences.

Competencies of the sections

Data Innovations and Network Technologies

The Data Innovations and Network Technologies section focuses on practical applications based on data science, AI, data platforms, and software-based network technologies, which are used in particular in the areas of mobility, business, and digital infrastructure. We advise applicants on project funding, evaluate new ideas, and support the research and development activities of SMEs, start-ups, universities, and research institutions. In addition to our core topics, we promote future-oriented themes, develop science communication concepts, and network innovation communities.

Head: Dr. Markus Schürholz

Health

The Health section deals with a wide range of topics: drug development and the transfer of research results into practice, innovative research methods, digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI), health services research, and public health. A particular focus is placed on the importance of biodiversity and its preservation as a foundation for human health. The multidisciplinary team supports national and international research projects, participates in EU projects, conducts studies and analyses, provides background information, and advises stakeholders from research and healthcare.

Head: Dr. Monika Huber

Communication Systems and IT Security

The Communication Systems and IT Security section brings together expertise in the broad field of secure and networked IT systems. The interdisciplinary team of experts in innovative communication systems, cybersecurity, quantum communication, as well as data protection and privacy is involved in the development and implementation of research and funding programmes for these future technologies and supports research projects at the federal and EU level. Strategic consulting and support for various stakeholders, the preparation of analyses on future-oriented topics, and a wide range of measures for transferring research into practice (e.g. by promoting start-ups) complete the profile.

Head: Dr. Julia Seebode

Human-Technology Interaction

The Human-Technology Interaction section comprises experts in medicine, nursing, psychology, engineering, and natural sciences. The team focuses on interactive and digital health solutions. These include technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and virtual reality, as well as topics such as user experience in healthcare and gamification. The group analyses trends, designs research programmes, and supports researchers in the responsible and user-oriented development of future technologies for the digitisation of healthcare.

Head: Constantin von Dewitz

Science Communication

Against the backdrop of the growing flood of information caused by social media and the opportunities for placing and spreading disinformation, it is becoming increasingly difficult to make informed decisions. That is why the Science Communication section advises our clients on strategies for communicating valuable knowledge successfully, purposefully, and sustainably to their target groups in the public, science, business, and policy spheres, as well as for fostering dialogue with and between them. To this end, we combine expertise across all communication disciplines with strong scientific know-how and in-depth sector knowledge.
