Battery 2030+ Logo

Battery 2030+ is a Europe-wide research initiative to develop the next generation of sustainable batteries. It focuses on a chemistry-neutral approach that does not optimise individual cell chemistries, but rather creates a comprehensive toolbox for material design, interface engineering, integrated sensor technology, self-healing and recyclability.

The aim is to strengthen Europe's leadership role along the entire battery value chain and enable new applications – from electric mobility and stationary storage to high-tech areas. Battery 2030+ thus supports key strategies such as the European Green Deal and the European Battery Action Plan and acts as a strategic platform connecting science, industry and politics.

Within the framework of Battery 2030+, VDI/VDE-IT promotes international cooperation in the field of batteries and specifically supports innovation uptake by transferring research results into industrial applications. At the same time, it strategically networks the initiative with the Battery IPCEI in order to strengthen synergies along the European battery value chain.
