VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH is a limited liability company based in Berlin. Its shareholders are the two major German engineering associations, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and the Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE).
Technological expertise
Today, the VDI e.V. is Europe’s largest association for engineers and scientists, with around 130,000 members. For over 170 years, it has promoted professional exchange, continuing education, and the application of technological innovation in fields such as engineering, natural sciences, digitisation, energy, mobility, and sustainability. It also recognises the outstanding achievements of its members through awards. In addition, VDI promotes young technical talent and acts as a multiplier of technical knowledge.
The VDE, based in Frankfurt/Main, is one of the largest technology organisations in Europe. For over 130 years, it has promoted innovation and technological progress by combining science, standardisation, testing, certification, and application consulting. For around 100 years, the VDE mark has stood for safety and consumer protection.
The VDE supports research, the promotion of young talent, and lifelong learning. Its network brings together around 2,000 employees, more than 100,000 volunteer experts, and around 1,500 companies.
Supervision
The Supervisory Board of VDI/VDE-IT is composed of one representative from each of its two shareholders, VDI and VDE, together with an elected employee representative.

The Advisory Board brings together experienced experts from a wide range of fields to advise the company. Its purpose is to combine diverse perspectives, knowledge, and experience, providing broader insight into the company’s environment and areas of activity. In this way, it helps strengthen and further develop the company’s strategic direction.
