Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the six key technologies in the German government's High-Tech Agenda. Germany has considerable opportunities, particularly in the area of secure, trustworthy, human-centred and sustainable AI applications.
As the project management agency for artificial intelligence, VDI/VDE-IT provides technical and administrative support to the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) in promoting innovation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), data science and software. In view of the increasing convergence of these disciplines, the promotion of innovation is an essential pillar of Germany's innovation ecosystem and technological sovereignty.
As project management agency, we accompany the entire funding cycle – we identify new topics, prepare announcements, provide support in project approval and take on the administrative management and review of the use of funds. In doing so, we act as the central interface between the applicants and the ministry. In addition, we advise on innovation policy issues, support public relations work and organise technical exchanges in the form of workshops and expert committees.
