Our commitment

Responsibility for the future

For VDI/VDE-IT, sustainability is more than just a principle – it is an integral part of our day-to-day operations. As a project organiser and innovation service provider, we take responsibility for the future and consciously shape our corporate development in a way that conserves resources, is socially balanced and takes a long-term view.

Our understanding of sustainability encompasses environmental responsibility, a supportive working environment and responsible corporate governance. In doing so, we focus on clear objectives, measurable actions and the continuous improvement of our processes.

A systematic approach to sustainability

VDI/VDE-IT has been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 since 2022. The environmental management system provides the organisational framework for our sustainable practices and helps us to systematically incorporate environmental considerations into our decisions and processes. It helps us to use resources efficiently, reduce our environmental impact and identify opportunities for improvement at an early stage.

Our measures include, amongst other things, the digitisation of work processes, the use of electronic signatures, the consistent reduction of paper consumption, and the continuous development of sustainable procurement and mobility standards. The reuse of IT equipment and the switch to environmentally friendly office supplies and consumables also contribute to the conservation of resources.

Promoting climate-friendly mobility

Business travel and mobility play an important role for a company operating nationwide. That is why we aim to make necessary journeys as climate-friendly as possible and to make consistent use of digital alternatives.

Already, more than 80 per cent of our business travel is by train. In addition, we are increasingly relying on digital meeting formats and promoting sustainable mobility in our day-to-day working lives. In this way, we are making a tangible contribution to reducing emissions and using resources responsibly.

Diversity as a strength

For us, sustainability also means creating a working environment in which different perspectives are welcomed and people can realise their potential. Diversity, equal opportunities and mutual respect are integral parts of our corporate culture.

VDI/VDE-IT has signed the Diversity Charter and actively promotes open, respectful and non-discriminatory collaboration. Flexible working arrangements, remote working and family-friendly initiatives support a healthy work-life balance.

Our workforce brings together people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. This diversity strengthens our capacity for innovation and broadens the perspectives we bring to our work.

Responsibility for a healthy and supportive working environment

Sustainability starts with people. That is why we create an environment that promotes health, wellbeing and personal development.

A key component of this is our workplace health management programme. This includes health promotion initiatives, stress prevention measures and ergonomic workstations. This is complemented by flexible working time arrangements, remote working and family-friendly policies that support a healthy work-life balance.

At the same time, we foster a corporate culture based on trust, respect and collaboration. We regard fairness, appreciation and equal opportunities as essential prerequisites for sustainable business success. This culture is also brought to life through the commitment of our staff. The company supports participation in community campaigns and initiatives, such as STADTRADELN, ‘Running Against Cancer’ or the ‘Dresden is(s)t bunt’ charity dinner. Such activities not only promote social cohesion but also strengthen team spirit within our company.

Sustainability as an ongoing process

For us, sustainability is not a static state, but an ongoing process of development. That is why we regularly review our measures, further develop existing standards and identify new opportunities for sustainable action.

In this way, we lay the foundations for responsible corporate development towards our employees, our clients and society.
